Fraser Island is a traditional isle situated next to the southern shore of Queensland, Australia. It is about 120 miles from north of Brisbane. Its span is approximately 75 miles and its width is about 15 miles. It was declared as a World traditional place back in 1992. The isle is believed to be the biggest sand isle in the world which is at 1840 km². It is also the largest isle in the whole Queensland, which also makes it the number 6th largest isle in the Australia.

Fraser Island contains rainforests, eucalyptus forest, mangrove forests, wallum and peat marsh, sand hill and coastal moorland.  The isle is completely made of sand that has been collection of about 750000 years on lava rock layer that provides a natural catchment for the deposit that carried on strong. It is different from many sand hills, plant life is rich because of the natural resources like mycorrhizal fungi there in the sand.  Which frees nutrients in a shape that can be wrapped up by the plants?

Fraser Island is house to a tiny number of the animal kind, as well as a varied range of birds, reptiles and amphibians, together with the irregular saltwater crocodile. The isle is part of the Fraser shore Region and sheltered in the Great Sandy National Park.

Fraser Island has been occupied by human being for approximately 5000 years.  Voyager James Cook cruise by the isle in May 1770. Matthew Flinders grounded close to the mainly northern point of the isle in 1802. For a small era the isle was recognized as Great Sandy Island. The isle became known as Fraser due to the tales of a wreckage survivor named Eliza Fraser.

Nowadays the isle is a well-known tourist’s target. Its residents were 194 in the 2011 according to the Australian Census.
