Koh Samui is an island in the group of islands in the Gulf of Thailand. Koh Samui in Surat Thani province has an area of 247 square kilometers is the main tourist island in Surat Thani. Located 258 nautical miles south of Bangkok, and approximately 84 kilometers east of the provincial capital, Koh Samui has the widest measure of 21 kilometers, and the longest 25 yards. Has a ring 51 kilometers along the coast road and most of the surrounding islands, Koh Samui has many beautiful beaches and bays, and almost literally referred to as the island of coconuts and forested hills.

The island can be reached by ferry or plane. Based on the book Lonely Planet, Koh Samui Phuket has beautiful beaches but not equal too crowded with tourists. Town of Mae Nam in the foothills recommended, this place fits livable because this place is a quiet place. It is suitable for those who want a vacation to get peace.

Mae Nam is a small town, situated on the edge of the beach like other cities in Koh Samui. Many foreigners settle down for a long time in this town, mingling with the local people. Quiet town atmosphere in Mae Nam you can feel and see how Thai people’s lives every day. Samui’s best beaches line located on the peninsula of the North and East, which is the most popular Hat Chaweng and Hat Lamai, where generally attractive and unique accommodation can be found.

Other beaches include Hat Choeng Mon, Hat Mae Nam in the north and Hat Na Thon, on the main island seafront where there are settlements along the shops, restaurants and tour agencies are concentrated.

At the South end of Lamai Bay are rock formations called Hin Ta Hin Yai, the scenery in the form of the cliffs at the edge of Lamai Beach. It’s just another of the other is-Hin Ta Hin Yai rock a pair. This is a pair of rocks shaped like male and female genitalia. A road connects the three waterfalls called Namtok Hin Lat, Namtok Lat Wanon, and Namtok Na Muang, which erode from the West to the South. By issuing about 150 baht (equivalent to USD 45,000) per person, tourists can ride elephants for 15 minutes. If less, elephant riders could pay more than 30 minutes to about 300 baht (U.S. $ 90,000) per person. Elephants will get around to the rest of the park up to the waterfall.

There are several monuments and Buddhist temples in Koh Samui: Phra Yai, a large Buddha statue sits on the island of Fan; Phrathat Hin Ngu, a stupa containing relics of Buddha. There is also Chedi Laem So, a golden stupa which is on the West coast, and the house in which lies the corpse Khunaram Wat Luang Pho Daeng which does not rot.

Sea specialties, Spring rolls, tom yam, until mussels boiled with herbs typically are the typical food of the island make a full day trip. This island will be busy in the holiday season, from December to April.
