Park Guell is a garden compound containing the historical architects essentials located on the mountain of El Carmel inside the Gràcia area of Barcelona, Spain. The place was planned and constructed by the Catalan designer named Antoni Gaudí and was constructed in the period of 1900-1914. It has the area span of 0.1718 km² which is very huge area. It is one of the largest structures in the southern Europe which makes it one of the largest architectural works in south Europe. Park Guell is also associated with the UNESCO.
Park Guell was initially division of a housing area site in Barcelona which was later turned out to be unsuccessful project. This housing idea was given by the Eusebi Güell on whom the place is given name. The place’s idea was taken from the English garden city. The name was combination of two words Parc and Guell(Eusebi Guell).
Park Guell was before stony mountain with slight plants and few oaks known as Muntanya Pelada. It was previously added a big country house called Larrard House which was sitiuated next to the elite class houses called La Salut.
The basic idea of constructing the Park Guell was to be away from the industrial section of the city, such as smoky factories, the area is very close to nature and has good beautiful . There are about 60 triangle plots given for lavishness houses around the park.
Eusebi Guell was included in the status of the development by shifting Larrard House in 1906. Finally, only two houses were constructed both the houses were not designed by the Gaudí. The first house was to be used as a demo or show house. Later it was being left for sale but no one was willing to buy the house finally on the suggestion of Guell, Gaudi bought the house from his savings in 1906.
